Fotona 4Glow Before Diwali and Wedding Functions: The Glow Treatment for Photo-Ready Skin

By Dr. Ujjwala Verma

Every year, a few days before Diwali, my phone starts ringing in a slightly different way. The questions are all versions of the same one. “Doctor, I have a puja at home, a party on Saturday, and then my cousin’s wedding. Is there something that can make my skin look better without keeping me indoors for a week?”

It’s a fair question. And it’s one I’m happy to answer, because most of the time, the answer is Fotona 4Glow.

So, what exactly is Fotona 4Glow?

In simple words, it’s our glow-focused laser protocol, done on the Fotona Dynamis Max. Fotona lasers work with two wavelengths, Er:YAG and Nd:YAG, and 4Glow uses that controlled, gentle energy to freshen up the skin so it looks brighter, smoother and more even.

The point isn’t to change your face. It’s to help your own skin look like it has had enough sleep, enough water and a calm month. That’s the kind of glow that shows up in photographs without a filter.

And where does StarWalker MaQX fit in?

Sometimes a face needs a little extra attention. A tan that hasn’t faded, a few stubborn dark spots, a tone that looks patchy under bright wedding lights. For that, we have the Fotona StarWalker MaQX, which is a laser made to work on pigment.

Not everyone needs both. After looking at your skin properly, I’ll tell you whether 4Glow alone is enough or whether adding StarWalker MaQX would make a visible difference for you.

Who is this really for?

  • Skin that looks dull or tired after weeks of festive late nights and heavy makeup
  • Anyone with a wedding, engagement or family function coming up
  • Uneven texture or rough patches that foundation keeps catching on
  • People who want a visible freshness but can’t afford days of recovery

When should you book?

Ideally, two to four weeks before the event. That gives your skin time to settle and gives me room to adjust if something needs a second look.

But I also know life doesn’t work that way. If Diwali is only days away, come anyway. We’ll talk honestly about what’s realistic in the time you have. What I’d ask is that your last session isn’t on the day before the function. Give your skin at least a week to be at its calmest.

What does it feel like?

Most people describe a warm, slightly tingling sensation. It isn’t something that needs you to grit your teeth. Some pinkness afterwards is normal and usually settles quickly. I’ll explain exactly what to expect for your skin type before we begin, because everyone’s skin reacts a little differently.

What 4Glow won’t do ?

I’d rather you hear this from me than be disappointed later. It’s not a magic eraser. Deep acne scars, strong pigmentation or loose skin usually need a proper course, not one pre-function session. And if your skin is sunburnt, irritated or has an active infection, I’ll ask you to wait. Treating it at the wrong time does more harm than good.

A few small things that help

  • Stay out of strong sun for a few days before and after, and use sunscreen every single morning
  • Skip new products, harsh scrubs and peels in the week of your treatment
  • Drink water. Boring advice, but your skin really does notice
  • Tell me about any medicines or creams you’re using before we start

Frequently asked questions

Is Fotona 4Glow safe for Indian skin?

Fotona lasers are used on a wide range of skin tones, but the settings matter a lot. Indian skin can react with pigmentation when it gets irritated, so I choose the settings only after I’ve examined your skin. That’s why I never recommend booking this without a consultation.

Is it the same as a regular facial?

No, and I don’t say that to put facials down. A facial looks after the surface of your skin. Lasers work differently, using light energy in a controlled way. Some people enjoy doing both, but one is not a replacement for the other.

Can I wear makeup right after?

That depends on how your skin reacts. If it’s still pink or sensitive, I’d say wait. Many people are comfortable with light makeup the next day, but I’ll tell you what to expect for your own skin at the end of the session.

How long does the glow last?

Honestly, not forever, and I’d be wary of anyone who says otherwise. How long it lasts depends on your sun exposure, sleep, routine and age. Many people choose a maintenance plan after the festive season so the skin doesn’t slide back.

I have a few pimples right now. Can I still get it done?

A few small breakouts are usually not a problem, but tell me about them. If there’s an active infection or a lot of inflammation, I’ll ask you to wait and treat that first. Lasers work best on calm skin.
